A pottery studio for people who want to make.
Clay. Community. Space to show up as you are.
Grit & Grog Clay Co. is a community pottery studio in Western Massachusetts, built for beginners, hobbyists, and anyone craving a creative practice that feels grounding instead of performative.
No pressure. No perfection. Just clay, time, and room to breathe.
No pressure.
No perfection.
Just clay, time, and room to breathe.
Why Grit & Grog?
This studio was built from the belief that creativity is a practice—not a performance.
We value:
Showing up imperfectly
Learning through doing
Community over competition
Making space for real life
Grit & Grog is a place to shape clay—and, sometimes, yourself—along the way.
What you’ll find here
A slower, more human pace
We care more about process than productivity, and belonging more than output.
Beginner-friendly experiences
You don’t need prior experience. We’ll meet you where you are and help you get your hands in clay without overwhelm.
A working community studio
This is a shared space for learning, experimenting, and making real work—side by side with other humans doing the same.
New to pottery?
Our Try It classes are the easiest way to start.
These one-time sessions are designed to help you actually try the wheel or handbuilding—no long-term commitment, no pressure to be “good,” and everything you need provided.
Perfect for first-timers, date nights, curious creatives, or anyone who just wants to see what clay feels like.
Classes & Workshops
We offer multi-week wheel and handbuilding classes, along with seasonal workshops that invite play, exploration, and skill-building.
Classes are a great way to:
Learn foundational techniques
Build confidence with clay
Decide if membership is right for you
Clay, tools, and firing for class work are included.
Studio Membership
Membership at Grit & Grog is about access—not tracking.
Members enjoy unlimited studio access during open studio hours and purchase clay as they make. Firing is included in studio clay, so costs scale naturally with your work.
No counting hours.
No surprise fees.
No pressure to “use it enough.”
