Learn Pottery

Ready for more than a fling with clay?

Our multi-week classes give you time to build skills, make mistakes, ask questions, and actually figure out what your hands are doing.

No pressure.

No perfection.

Just clay,

time, and

room to breathe.

Grit & Grog is a working community studio built for real people—beginners, experienced potters, creative people, “I’m-not-creative” people, and everyone somewhere in between.

Come learn something. Make something weird. Ask questions. Screw something up. Try again.

That’s kind of the point.

Pottery is better when nobody expects you to be good at it yet.

Beginners actually belong here

You don't have to know the vocabulary, own the tools, or pretend you know what centering means. We'll meet you where you are.

People over perfection

Beautiful pottery is great. But laughing across the table, learning from each other, and feeling comfortable enough to make a spectacularly questionable mug matter too.

Learn by getting your hands dirty

We believe craftsmanship comes from curiosity, practice, mistakes, and trying again—not from getting everything right the first time.

Apparently, getting muddy with strangers is a pretty good way to make friends.

Come for the clay. Stay because somebody across the table just made you laugh so hard you ruined your handle.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This is the most amazing pottery studio. Katie, the owner, has such a huge heart and exudes a fabulous energy! As an amateur potter, I became a member to have fun in a welcoming, low pressure environment. Over 4 months I’ve had the best experience learning at my own pace & having so much fun. I highly encourage anyone who is even mildly interested to give a 4-week class a try or jump in as a member like I did and learn as you go.

MEMBER

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Absolutely loved my experience at Grit and Grog Pottery! We went to one of their Valentine’s Day classes and had such a fun time. We got to make both a bowl and a cup, and the whole class was a really enjoyable hands-on experience. Katie was incredibly nice, enthusiastic, and made everything feel approachable even for beginners. She also trimmed and glazed our pieces for us, and they came out so good! Such a fun and unique activity, I would definitely recommend it and would love to go back.

WORKSHOP GUEST

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I went to a class with a friend and we really enjoyed learning how to use the wheel and work with clay. Katie was super helpful, patient, and knowledgeable. Highly recommend signing up for a class or a session!

Already thinking about coming back?

Yeah. Clay does that.

Membership is for potters who want Grit & Grog to become part of their regular creative life—not just somewhere they visit for a class.

Get studio access, keep building your skills, make work at your own pace, and become part of the slightly muddy collection of humans who call this place theirs.

Not sure if membership is your next move? Come take a studio tour. We’ll show you around, explain how everything works, and you can decide from there.

Ready to get your hands dirty?

You don’t need experience. You don’t need your own tools. You definitely don’t need to know what you’re doing yet.

Pick something that sounds fun and come make a mess with us.
